Isabelle is a super shy lady with beautiful green eyes. Our good friend and volunteer at Providing for Paws, Nadine Pyne-Dochenetz, brought Izzy to us in August 2014. Izzy was a homeless neighborhood cat rescued by a kind family in Detroit. Through Nadine’s volunteer work as a community outreach consultant, Izzy was identified as positive for FeLV and so began her move to the country.
Isabelle prefers modest contact with humans but, she doesn’t mind her feline friends one bit. We catch glimpses of her watching birds from the window, lounging in the sunshine and playing with our many toy mice.
Izzy presents what are called “discordant results” with respect to FeLV. In other words, sometimes she tests positive and sometimes she tests negative depending on the test type and date that the blood sample was taken. She could be an immune carrier of the virus or have transient viremia. Regardless, she will stay with us and enjoy the remainder of her lovely life with all of her human and feline friends.
