Gus

Gus’ story represents the future for which we hope.  In April 2014, Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit asked us to accept Gus into our country home due to his FIV positive status.  We happily accepted this super cute chunky monkey.
Smokey Acres residents enjoyed Gus’ laid back and friendly attitude until we found an opportunity for him to join another family.  In December 2017, our friend Brandt Miller agreed to serve as foster for Gus.  Gus stole Brandt’s heart and was officially adopted by him in July 2017.
The Smokey Acres mission is to provide sanctuary for cats who have difficulty finding adoptive homes.  When we locate families for FIV positive felines, we are better able to concentrate resources on our leukemia positive cats that have more complicated and expensive medical needs.  We hope to replicate this positive outcome in the future.
