Our Purpose
Here at Smokey Acres, we provide sanctuary for felines with limited options as a result of Feline Leukemia (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV.) Browse our website to learn more about these conditions and to see how you can help us with our mission in providing a comfortable shelter for these animals who may otherwise be euthanized unnecessarily.
Our Mission Statement
To provide lifetime sanctuary for difficult to adopt cats, especially those infected with feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus.
How It All Began…
Smokey, most lovingly referred to as “Jujy Boy,” came to us in September of 2003. Smokey was a seemingly hostile feral cat living in our apartment complex. During the summer of 2003, we slowly befriended him and late one evening in September, we found Smokey in need of veterinary care. After having delicately lured him into the apartment, we began a most wild, but successful, capture strategy.
